2nd Assembly of the Turkic World Insurance Association Holds in Türkiye

The 2nd Assembly of the Turkic World Insurance Association has commenced its work in Gaziantep, Türkiye.

According to information provided by the Azerbaijan Insurers Association, the Assembly—organized by the Insurance Association of Türkiye—brings together leaders of insurance regulatory bodies and insurance associations from Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye, Uzbekistan, and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, alongside insurance market representatives from various countries.

The official ceremony featured speeches by Ahmet Yaşar, President of the Insurance Association of Türkiye; Ulviyya Jabbarova, Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board of the Azerbaijan Insurers Association and Chairwoman of the Turkic World Insurance Association; Davut Menteş, Chairman of the Insurance and Private Pension Regulation and Supervision Authority of Türkiye; and Fatma Şahin, Mayor of Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality.

It was reported that panel discussions were organized as part of the 2nd Assembly of the Turkic World Insurance Association. A panel discussion titled "The Turkic World in the Context of New Global Risks: Harmonization, Resilience, and a Shared Future in Insurance Regulation" took place with the participation of Vusal Gurbanov, Director General of the Central Bank of the Republic of Azerbaijan; Tahmina Kamchybekova, Head of the Insurance Activity Regulation Department under the Financial Market Regulation and Supervision Service of the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic; Barış Taşkesen, Deputy Chairman of the Insurance and Private Pension Regulation and Supervision Authority of Türkiye; Shukrat Abdurakhmanov, Head of the Insurance Market Development and Digitalization Department of Uzbekistan; and Zafer Arifoğlu, Deputy Head of Department at the Ministry of Finance of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

Additionally, a panel discussion titled "The Turkic World Insurance Market Until 2030: Shared Risks, Shared Potential, Shared Future" was held with the participation of Abas Miskarli, Executive Director of the Azerbaijan Insurers Association; Ulan Baktygulov, Chairman of the Insurers Association of Kyrgyzstan; Ahmet Yaşar, President of the Insurance Association of Türkiye; Rustam Azimov, Member of the Board of Directors of the Association of Professional Insurance Market Participants of Uzbekistan; and Börte Barlasoglu, Chairwoman of the Cyprus Turkish Insurance and Reinsurance Companies Association.

During the Assembly, a vote will also be conducted to elect the new Chairman and Secretary-General of the Turkic World Insurance Association, and the host country for the 3rd Assembly will be announced.

It should be noted that in accordance with the joint decision adopted at the 1st Assembly of the Turkic World Insurance Association held in Shusha, Azerbaijan, the 2nd Assembly is being hosted by Türkiye this year. The primary purpose of hosting the Assembly in Gaziantep is to send out a global message on risk awareness, drawing upon the catastrophic earthquake that struck the region in 2023.
